Hello, dear farmers! For this assignment, we were asked to create a video using an educational approach called the flipped classroom.
What is a flipped classroom, you might ask.
The flipped classroom approach is a pedagogical model that blends traditional teaching methods with technological tools. Instead of lectures in class and homework at home, students engage with instructional material before class. Classroom time is dedicated to interactive activities. This approach allows for personalized learning, as students can review content at their own pace and focus on areas where they need more support.
For language classes,
the flipped classroom offers numerous advantages. It provides students with repeated exposure to target language content outside of class, allowing them to pre-learn vocabulary and grammar. It also empowers students to take responsibility for their learning and come to class prepared. However, there are potential disadvantages. Not all students have equal access to technology or reliable internet, which can create an equity gap. Furthermore, some students may struggle with the self-discipline required to engage with pre-class material, potentially leading to them falling behind.
For this assignment,
my group partners, Melisa, Zülal, and I worked together. We faced some difficulties while doing this assignment. For example, coordinating our schedules for scriptwriting and video recording proved difficult, as we all had different commitments. We solved this by creating a shared online document on Canva where we could collaboratively write and edit scripts.
You can find the first drafts of our video, ASSURE plan, and the worksheet below.
Okay, so,
I may or may not have forgotten that Canva overwrites your work, which means I do not have access to our first draft now. Well, it is too late to be sorry now, isn't it? Hence, let me tell you what has changed on our video. We added our voice-overs (which were not added in the first draft) and decided to add real-life examples to our video since we needed to keep it over 5 minutes. Ta-da! We are done with the video. After that, we updated our ASSURE plan as some changes needed to be made. We did not touch our worksheet, which is already finalised.
